Meet: The GET WAVEY CREW
GET WAVEY is the name of the party which is held every Wednesday at the new Magnet Club. The crew, that is Finckobot (Berlin), Tvyks (Prague) and Mike Genius (NY). The three guys run an awesome line-up for their parties and show an amazing taste in music, when it gets to rock Magnet.
The news of their 1st anniversary just reached me, reminding me of the interview that was due loooong time ago... Finckobot was kind enough to answer the questions right on the spot - man, you rock!

Where are you right now?

What music are you listening to today?
Just listening to Bok Bok’s new EP on Night Slugs.
What have you been doing the past months, what projects are you currently working on?
We have been working on preparing our 1st Get Wavey anniversary. Got into a bit of trouble with our idea doing a Broiler Room special with chicken visuals, yeah silly I know. But the Boiler Room peeps from London thought we were trying to steal their party or something. However, we’ll stay with great visuals from Alex Sedano from London and Brenmar, who hopefully will wear a great sweater like on all his promo pics. We’ll also broadcast the night on Ustream.
Biggest next plan is our Get Wavey label. First release is done and should be out in a few months. Oh, and we’re also doing a stage at Fête de la Musique for Galeries Lafayette in Friedrichstrasse.
Next to that I’m setting up a new DJ alias, because I have some love for this new disco sounds and good pop music. Watch out for Fennec Fox.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
Rather the moon than the sun, but a bit of both. My cats. Food. Waveyness. Grindin. The city. Birds in the morning. Technicolor. Partys. People. The zoo. The internetz. Stuff. You know.
What do you do to relax from work?
Listen to even more music, most probably.

GET WAVEY is celebrating its first anniversary on June 1st. Mr. Finckobot, could you please introduce the team behind GET WAVEY, the weekly party at Magnet Club every Wednesday?
Get Wavey is Tvyks from Prague, Mike Genius from New York and me. Tvyks is mostly taking care of the visual side, doing the graphics, flyers etc. Mike is our tech Genius. He also produces as Naifian, which will be our first release on the Get Wavey label. I’m handling most of our bookings.

How did the team form? You three come from three different countries...
Tvyks and I played a gig together many years ago. He still lived in Prague back then. When he moved to Berlin about 2 years ago it was obvious to us that we have to set up something together.
Mike and I got in touch through me having one of his tracks on a mixtape I did. He came to Berlin for a vacation 2 years ago and fell in love with the city. Half a year later he moved here…
Who is GET WAVEY aimed at? How do you differenciate your line-up with the other Wednesday parties in Berlin?
Get Wavey is aimed at people who are up for fresh sounds in dance music. Or just people who like to dance. Our line-ups are more eclectic than other parties on Wednesdays. Over all, there’s not many other nights with the sound we are playing at all.
So far, there have been loads of great artists joining you, what are the criteria for choosing guest artists?
We are in touch with many of the artists, we are having play at Get Wavey. It’s our love for the music that just gets us to book them. We are not very business with that.

DJ Finckobot is Berlin’s ambassador for fresh sounds in electronic dance music. From Tropical House to Post Dubstep to UK Funky, all tomorrow’s sounds are merging, held together by bass.
This style brought and is bringing Finckobot to all relevant Berlin clubs like Maria am Ostbahnhof, Magnet, Ritter Butzke, Scala (RIP), WMF (RIP), Villa and many more. Outside of the capital and Germany the orbit is continuously broadened with shows, e.g. in Düsseldorf, Prague and Vienna.
Finckobot has shared the stage with heaps of international DJs. When he thinks an important one that people should hear is missing, he gets him over by himself as a promoter, most recently as part of the Get Wavey Crew.
In his continuous mission as tastemaker Finckobot was one of the early music bloggers. Since 2008 he’s also a radio host. His Friday night show is called Maximal Finckobot and is broadcasted on BLN.FM, where he also works as music editor.
