Born in Berlin, Todd Bodine is a musical child par excellence of Germany‘s capital of electronic music. Strongly influenced by the atmosphere after the fall of the Berlin wall he took his first credits as a resident DJ in the world famous Tresor Club. The place where he performs his actionloaded DJ-sets once a month untill today.
But that‘s just one side of Todd‘s musical activities, being a DJ on the floors of international known clubs in Barcelona, Paris, Tokyo or Rio de Janeiro, just to name a few. Beside this career he‘s active as a producer since the year 2001 - and that with great success. At the beginning stood releases on the Berlin based Cabinet Record, followed by releases on Tom Clark‘s Highgrade Records, the swiss Morris Audio label and last but not least: Tresor Records. With Tom Clark he shares a longterm creative friendship, which is by all means not the only reason why Todd Bodine is an essential part of the Highgrade-artists-family, thus beeing one of the most profilic musicians from that label.
Beside several EP‘s, Todd Bodine allready did two albums: „Different Engines“ was released in 2005 on Morris Audio, followed by „Surfaces“ one year later on Tresor. Two hihglights in Todd‘s discography for sure, but clearly not the end. Other EPs on Treibstoff Records or Claude van Strokes Mothership label are belonging to his portfolio too. As well as a couple of remixes and releases on international known labels like Immigrant (Manchester) or Sub Conce (Spain). As if this is not enough, Todd works together with several musical buddies: Dub Taylor (a.k.a. Tigerskin), DJ FX from Berlin or the Frankfurt based Highgrade-newcomer Ludwig Coenen.
In march 2007 it was about time to take the next level of putting his musical visions into practice. After half a year of preparing it, Todd began to perform as liveact. He started this with a big bang - with playing live at Berlin‘s finest - the Panorama Bar. Another very successfull project of Todd was born. So he plays for instance both as a liveact and as a DJ across many floors all over Europe on the „Our Thing“ clubtour 2008 to the Highgrade jubilee.

Wondering how the name "Todd Bodine" was pronounced, I attended the first AMAM label night (an Italian label with features artists like Todd Bodine, Jay Haze and Alessio Mereu) at Arena Berlin. I was told by another guest that it was [bodain] :) First question cleared.
Highgrade Records, which is run by Tom Clark, Mariana Luzardo and Todd Bodine, is a very famous label in Berlin and has a wide range of artists. The names Tom Clark, Todd Bodine, Jens Bond, Daniel Dreier, Heinrichs & Hirtenfellner, Format: B, Markus Homm, Mihai Popoviciu, Simon Beeston, Homm & Popoviciu, Guido Schneider, Asem Shama, Andri, Prompt, Dachshund, Demir & Seymen, Ludwig Coenen, Marcus Sur are reknown for the best beats in town and also having a high reputation internationally. That is where he works. Second question cleared.
Now it is Monday, March 7th, the official release day of Todd Bodine's new EP DIZZY HORNS by Highgrade Disharmonic Orchestra with three brand new tracks: Quintuble Vibes, Dizzy Horns, Third String.
You see, Berlin-based label Highgrade Records has taken a somehwat new direction with the Highgrade Disharmonic Orchestra. Todd Bodine, Tom Clark, Philip Bader, Daniel Dreier and Dale have bundled their musical creativity together to show audiences at Watergate and other key locations in the capital city of Germany their authentic and premium quality live performance. Clubbers can now connect with their very unique and exciting brand of musical experimentation.
This unique Live atmosphere now comes to you as an EP release. Three tracks that exude the groove of a sweaty night on the dance floor. In contrast to what the name suggests, the music is a result of five very different voices of the participating artists, but forms a coherent, highly varied and engaging work that all electronic music fans will feel in their hips - a reflection of the diverse Highgrade universe in it's best possible sense. Lurking behind every beat is a fascinating and original surprise.
But this EP is even more: It also constitutes the first of a Highgrade Disharmonic Orchestra series, which will bring the combo to numerous festivals and clubs around the world. Things should get interesting!

stylistberlin: Where are you right now?
Todd Bodine: Just back form weekend and sitting at the Highgrade office here in Berlin-Friedrichshain :) Working, working, working.
stylistberlin: If you would describe yourself in three words or one sentence?
For me its also important to be respectful to everyone. I hate artist who are arrogant or something like this.
stylistberlin: Your Soundtrack of your life currently, reason?
Todd Bodine: It´s for sure Groove La Chord from Aril Brikha. This tracks was and is my inspiration. It´s everything you need (my opinion). For me it stands for dynamic, rhythm and also for dreams. So, everything in it ... haha.stylistberlin: What are your favourite 3 vinyls/tracks of all times?

stylistberlin: That sounds like an awesome spring 2011! What makes you happy the most at the moment?
I really love it at the moment. And for sure my family, my two kids.
stylistberlin: Please tell us something about your current project, the Highgrade Disharmonic Orchestra just posted the third track of the EP online.
The members are Tom Clark, Philip Bader, Daniel Dreier, Dale and me. For this year 2 EPs and a full length album is planned. The first EP "Dizzy Horns" will be out on March 7th (Vinyl + Download). (Check out on Beatport)
stylistberlin: You seem to be one of the busiest persons here in Berlin ;) How does your day look like?
Then pick up my kids and taking care of them (playing, what ever). Then cooking ... bringing my kids to bed. At the end I go to studio and play :)
I don´t think that Im the busiest person here :)
